How it works

What happens, from invitation to answer

  1. Get your invitation

The hiring company's recruiting team emails you a personal link. The email says that AI assists with the interview and that it's recorded.

  2. Pick a time

Open the link, choose a day on the calendar and a time from the list, and add it to your calendar. The email says how long you have to book.

  3. Join the call

At your time, open the same link and click Join. If you're early, the page waits and refreshes itself when it's time.

  4. Talk it through

The interviewer greets you, checks it can hear you, then asks questions one at a time, with a follow-up on each. It lasts 15 to 90 minutes, depending on the role.

  5. Hear back

A person on the hiring team reviews your interview and decides what happens next. The recruiter will be in touch.

Before you start

Ten minutes of setup makes the interview about you, not your connection.

  • A quiet roomSomewhere you won't be interrupted for the full length of the interview.
  • A headset or earbuds with a microphoneIt cuts echo and background noise, so you're heard clearly.
  • The right deviceOn a computer, use Chrome or Edge, with nothing to install. On a phone or tablet, install the free Microsoft Teams app beforehand.
  • A steady connectionWi-Fi or strong mobile data. Close other video calls and big downloads.
  • Microphone and camera allowedTeams asks for permission when you join. Say yes, or the interviewer can't hear you.
  • On timeOpen your link a few minutes early. The Join button appears at your start time.
Tips

How to do your best

Think out loud

The interviewer is listening for how you reason, not only for the final answer.

Take your time

A pause is fine. If you need a moment to think, say so.

Ask it to repeat

Missed part of a question? Just ask. It will repeat it, in plainer words if you like.

It's fine not to know

Say so honestly. The interviewer won't push, and it moves on to the next topic.

Use real examples

Specific stories from your own work carry more weight than general answers.

Keep answers focused

Every question gets one follow-up, so you'll have a chance to go deeper.

Fairness

How you're assessed

Before you were invited, your Resume/CV was compared with the job description to help the recruiter decide who to interview. In the interview, everyone applying for the role gets questions built from the same job description, pitched at the role's level.

  • Each answer is rated against what a strong answer looks like for this role, and your own words sit next to every rating, so a person can check it.
  • How clearly you explain things counts, more so for senior roles. Nerves and the occasional "um" aren't held against you.
  • If the role requires spoken English, you may also get fluency scores. They measure how easy you are to follow, never your accent, and they never decide anything on their own.
  • A person on the hiring team makes every decision. The AI only recommends.
What's never assessed
  • Your accent, or where you're from
  • Your face, your appearance or your surroundings
  • Your personality or how confident you sound
  • Anything that isn't related to the job

Your recording and your data

The interview is recorded: the audio, the video if your camera is on, and a written transcript. The hiring company's team can review it. Recordings are deleted after a set period, while the transcript, the assessment and the decision are kept as the hiring record.

FAQ

Questions candidates ask

Is it a real person?

No. It's an AI interviewer, and it will tell you so if you ask. A person on the hiring team reviews your interview and makes the decision.

Do I need to install anything?

On a computer, no: open your link in Chrome or Edge. On a phone or tablet, Microsoft Teams usually asks you to install its free app, so install it before your interview.

Can I reschedule or cancel?

Yes. Open your link up to 30 minutes before your start time to pick a new time or cancel. After that, reply to your invitation email.

What if I miss my time?

If you haven't joined within 15 minutes of your start time, new times open up and you'll get an email to pick one.

What if my connection drops?

Open your link again and rejoin the meeting. If that doesn't work, reply to your invitation email and the recruiting team will help.

Can I ask about the job or the company?

The interviewer keeps to the interview itself. For questions about the role, the pay or the next steps, reply to your invitation email and the recruiter will answer.

Which language is the interview in?

English.

Who sees my interview?

The hiring company's recruiting team, and Candfit only as needed to run the service. If the company that invited you is a recruiting firm, it may share your assessment with the client it's hiring for. The candidate notice has the details.

I'd rather not be interviewed by an AI.

That's your choice. You can end the call at any time and reply to your invitation email, so the recruiting team can follow up with you.

Your interview link

Looking for your interview link?

It's in the invitation email from the hiring company's recruiting team. The same link books your time, changes it and joins the interview, and it works for 30 days. Can't find it? Search your inbox and spam folder for the company's name, or reply to the recruiter.
